“… an energetic, surprising final act that spirals into an unexpected but welcome resolution… This colorful Sci-Fantasy tale boasts exhilarating tension and superb worldbuilding.” Kirkus Reviews

Author J. Wint’s young adult dystopian series starts with a bang and should appeal to sci-fi and fantasy lovers alike. The plot moves at a blistering pace, with a narrative that also incorporates elements from adventure and mystery genres to keep you on your toes and turning the pages with eager anticipation of what’s to come. – Readers’ Favorite

There were so many moments as the plot barreled forward where I realized amazing connections that I had overlooked in the early
chapters, making it a book to gleefully read again. Surprising and thoughtful, the plot builds steadily and ends with a bang. –Indies Today

J. Wint has created an entirely new universe set in the semi-distant future that is easy to believe and impossible to put down. I absolutely love when genre lines are blurred, and The Prism Effect is a perfect example of combining science fiction, mystery, supernatural, and action. Even athletics and technology make a fair appearance, as we are introduced to the newest, futuristic sport since Quidditch. – Readers’ Favorite

The suspenseful bits are ratcheted up high and the mysterious, secretive atmosphere will have readers at the edge of their seats and resisting the urge to shuffle forward a few pages. I absolutely love it when an aura of mystery permeates throughout the entire telling of a story. Wint left enough details unresolved that readers will be waiting with bated breath for the next instalment in the series. —  Online Bookclub

Superbly written, the story fires the imagination from the very beginning. The combination of the race against the clock and the distinctive characters creates a suspenseful and unforgettable first book in what promises to be a spectacular series. – Readers’ Favorite

Learn how it all started.

BECOMING AN IMMORTAL HAS A PRICE...

Eighteen-year-old Brindall Harper never imagined he would fail his rite of passage called “The Day of the Nail.” Now marked as an immortal, he is forced to lead a decades-long war that rages over control of the fabled Skylight System orbiting in earth’s atmosphere. Suddenly, everything is on the line, including his family’s life. However, victory means a one-way ticket to the utopian haven for him and his loved ones if he can survive the deadly war.

Brindall is sent to an elite war academy to hone his skills, where he is teamed with several other young immortals. As they prepare to lead the deadly campaign, Brindall begins to notice cracks in the so-called ‘utopia’ they fight for. There are undercurrents of manipulation—someone is trying to control him and the other powerful immortals for a more sinister purpose. The lines of reality get even blurrier when they face ‘dark immortals’ on the battlefield.

Brindall seeks the truth behind his immortal heritage, a truth that not only threatens his mission, but the very existence of his ancient race. He soon finds himself at the heart of a grim conspiracy that could unravel the foundations of the war itself. With the clock ticking and the fate of his family hanging in the balance, Brindall faces a harrowing truth: if he fails…the human race may not survive.
