5-Star Review
The Prism Effect is the first installment of The Skylight Series by J.
Wint. Eighteen-year-old Jet Shroud leaves his childhood home in the
cave-like system of ARC to join the prestigious Skylight University in
the Skylight system. Discriminated his whole life due to his illness
of ephebus mortem – a condition that creates a glow in the eyes
and leaves the victims dead before the age of twenty-four – Jet finds
a similar attitude prevailing amongst his fellow students. The sole
exception is his roommate, Cutter, upon whose advice he befriends
fellow ephebus mortem students in Vail, Bo, and Cord. As the
friends start searching for a cure, they find themselves embroiled in
a conspiracy involving a series of paintings that contain secret
messages about an ancient race. Can Jet uncover the mystery and
embrace his destiny?
Author J. Wint’s young adult dystopian series starts with a bang and
should appeal to sci-fi and fantasy lovers alike. The Prism Effect is a
captivating mix of sci-fi and fantasy that keeps your eyes glued to
the pages from start to finish. The plot moves at a blistering pace,
with a narrative that also incorporates elements from adventure
and mystery genres to keep you on your toes and turning the pages
with eager anticipation of what’s to come. I found the characters
well-developed, with backstories that add plenty of depth to their
personalities. With a unique and authentic premise, the author
delivers an imaginative tale that makes you crave the sequels by
the end. If you’re a fan of young adult sci-fi stories, do not miss out
on The Prism Effect
